Dua for the Bathroom

We should be always look to be mindful of our Lord, even when performing mundane activities such as going to the bathroom, be it for wudu or relieving ourselves. Allah and His Messenger (ﷺ) have given us instructions for these such times. Here are 2 short dua that we should recite when entering and leaving the bathroom.

Dua for Entering the Bathroom

(بِسْمِ

اللَّهِ).

اللَّهُـمَّ

إِنِّي

أَعُـوذُ

بِـكَ

مِـنَ

الْخُـبْثِ

وَالْخَبَائِثِ.

(In the name of Allah). O Allah, I take refuge with you from all evil and evil-doers. From Al-Bukhari 1:45, Muslim 1:283.

Dua When Leaving the Bathroom

غُفْرَانَكَ

الْحَمْدُ

لِلَّهِ

الَّذِي

أَذْهَبَ

عَنِّي

الْأَذٰى

وَعَافَانِي

(O Allah) I seek forgiveness and pardon from You”. All Praise be to Allah, who has taken away from me discomfort and granted me relief. Mishkat al-Masabih 374.

These Dua are short, and hopefully easy to memorize. Allah does not wish to burden us, but wishes for us to perform our duties to Him with ease. May Allah make it easy for us to remember these dua and recite them when we need to.
